LANGEBAAN - CAPE WEST COAST GUEST HOUSES

Top
Langebaan is a smallish town on the edge of the immense Langebaan Lagoon, about 2 hours' drive north of Cape Town on the West Coast. The Lagoon is a water sports enthusiast’s paradise with wonderful kayaking, fun snorkelling and some of the best windsurfing and kitesurfing  in the world. In summer, migratory water birds arrive in their thousands from as far away as Russia. Schaapen Island, in the middle of the lagoon, is bird sanctuary so it’s strictly off limits, but you can paddle really close to it and watch the gannets, gulls and cormorants squabbling amongst themselves. The West Coast National Park borders on the town and sweeps down to the southern end of the lagoon. It’s a good place for spotting small game but the major attraction is the colourful spring flowers.

Puza Moya Guest House, LANGEBAAN
Situated on South Africa's beautiful West Coast, Langebaan offers the unique waters of the Lagoon and Saldahna Bay as it's main draw. The warm, safe waters allow windsurfers, Kiteboarders, Kayakers and fishermen breath taking views and some of the best conditions in the world. The town it's self is home to some very original South African gems, Die Strandloper, Froggies, Pearly's on The Beach and of course 'Eve's Footprint.' Eve's Footprint was discovered on the entrance to the Lagoon and is one of the earliest proof of modern man's or woman's existence on this planet. Over 170,000 years old, this fossil shows how people have been coming to this town for a lot longer than we thought. Even a pair of bindings were found close by, so perhaps she was a wakeboarder.
The Farmhouse Hotel LANGEBAAN
Our gracious hotel sits on the hill above the Langebaan Lagoon on the Cape West Coast of South Africa. Originally built in 1860 as the Panorama Farm Homestead, it was beautifully restored in 1992, recreating the original Cape Dutch farmstead atmosphere. It retains the charm of reed ceilings, huge fireplaces and outstanding views of the lagoon.  The Management and Staff look forward to offering you the warmest of West Coast welcomes and pampering you with our homely, personalised service.  Our restaurant, the Panorama, named after the original homestead, offers traditional Cape cuisine and an excellent wine selection, specialising in wines of the West Coast and Swartland regions.  In winter a crackling fire spreads a warm glow over the Oregon furniture and high ceilings.
