Cape
Town, South Africa, City of Beauty and History by Anne Sewell
I can just imagine the thoughts
of Portuguese explorer Bartholemew Diaz, when he first discovered
the Cape in 1488. Coming in from the sea to this glorious and mountainous
landscape must have been truly wondrous! Cape Town has come
a very long way from its initial stages as home to the nomadic Khoi people
and later to the Dutch settlers of Jan van Riebeek of the Dutch East India
Company. Now a truly international city of sprawling proportions,
all the cliches that have been applied to Cape Town are completely true
- the Mother City, The Most Beautiful City in the World.... all with
that stunning and beautiful backdrop - the amazing Table Mountain....

most private, intimate and original new guest houses in Cape Town’s gay
village, De Waterkant. De Waterkant lies in the historic Bo-Kaap
(above Town) area of Cape Town, an historic and culturally interesting
area of the city. A traditional residential area of Cape Town's Muslim

Guest House, Bed & Breakfast, GARDENS
Situated in Gardens, an
old and established area of Cape Town at the foot of Table Mountain, Welgelegen
comprises two beautiful turn of the century houses, lovingly renovated
and decorated to reflect the uncompromising commitment to style of their
owner and your hostess, Fiona Evans. Welgelegen is an absolute jewel
of a Guest House. It is a gem set in a tranquil, leafy cul-de-sac at the

Gardens. Secluded and serene, it is still only just around the corner from

as is the Dutch translation for “Welgelegen!” The Guest House comprises
two Victorian houses joined by a wonderful cobbled patio and gurnite plunge
pool , enclosed by terraces of iceberg roses and fragrant star jasmine. |
