I can just imagine the thoughts
of Portuguese explorer Bartholemew Diaz, when he first discovered
the Cape in 1488. Coming in from the sea to this glorious and mountainous
landscape must have been truly wondrous! Cape Town has come
a very long way from its initial stages as home to the nomadic Khoi people
and later to the Dutch settlers of Jan van Riebeek of the Dutch East India
Company. Now a truly international city of sprawling proportions,
all the cliches that have been applied to Cape Town are completely true
- the Mother City, The Most Beautiful City in the World.... all with
that stunning and beautiful backdrop - the amazing Table Mountain.
You will arrive in Cape Town
at the Cape Town International Airport, and drive through a series of dilapidated,
but still interesting, townships to the city itself. So many international
class hotels to choose from, both in the city and Victoria & Alfred
Waterfront, and also in the surrounding suburbs. Choose also from
a range of quality bed & breakfasts, guest houses and self-catering
villas and apartments, for the perfect holiday accommodation to suit you...

Cultural
Diversity of Cape Town's Townships and Malay Quarter by
Bronwen E. Roberts .. The Bo-Kaap: A Multicultural
Treasure - This community lives right below the slopes of signal hill,
regarded as prime real estate in Cape Town. Follow the cobble-stoned streets
with their brightly coloured houses, though a community bustling with activity.
This is the traditional residential area of Cape Town's Muslim Community.
Muslim 'saints' shrines ("kramats") and many beautiful Mosques including
the first established Muslim Mosque in South Africa can be found here.
Most of the residents are descended from slaves brought here by the Dutch
in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. They came from Africa, India,
Sri Lanka, and Malaysia, and elsewhere in Asia. The common term for people
of this community is "Cape Malays", although most of them are not descended

scholars and religious leaders. Many others were skilled artisans. This
community has played a major role in the language and culture of Cape Town

Camps
Bay is an affluent suburb of Cape Town, South Africa. In the African
winter it is a hotbed of European tourists as well as local South Africans
down for a beach holiday. It hosts beach volleyball tournaments as well
as a refreshing nightlife. Camps Bay is named after an invalid sailor,
Ernst Friedrich von Kamptz, who settled there in 1778. The back of
Table Mountain, the Table Mountain cableway and the Twelve Apostles Mountain
Range form a backdrop to the Camps Bay family beach. The surf is strong
here and there is no resident lifeguard, but a rescue helicopter patrols
regularly. The grass verge flanked by the Camps Bay tidal pool offers shady,
wind-free barbecue spots. Trendy Shops, restaurants, a hotel, chemist,
banks and police station are close to the beach. The best time of
the year to visit Camps Bay as a tourist is November through March, allthough
it can be a bit windy during November and December. The plethora of restaurants
with the beach just across the road gives you many things to do in Camps
Bay, and being just over the hill (about 10 minutes drive) from central
