Gariep
Dam is a dam in South Africa and is located close to the town of Norvalspont
in the Free State, province South Africa. The dam is a popular are for
recreation with several accommodation options available for visitors.
The
dam is located on the Orange River between the Eastern Cape to the south
and the Free State to the north and about 30 km north east of Colesberg.
It is situated in a gorge at the entrance to the Ruigte Valley some 5 km
east of Norvalspont. Oviston, on the south bank of the reservoir, is the
inlet of the Orange-Fish River Tunnel, allowing water to be diverted to
the Great Fish River and the Eastern Cape. |

friendly and bring one closer to the peaceful serenity only nature can
provide. Raptor Ridge Lodge and the Gariep Dam area offers numerous
activities to keep you and your family or colleagues busy and entertained
such as birdwatching, cycling, stargazing, hunting, gliding and game watching. |
