20 minutes by road from Cape Town International Airport and five minutes
from the centre of the city. Right on the doorstep are the city's prime
retail outlets in the Victoria & Alfred Shopping Centre.
The Table Bay Hotel has a total of 329 rooms which include standard twin rooms, standard king rooms, paraplegic rooms, luxury rooms and suites. There are 13 standard suites, 2 Executive Suites, 1 Superior Suite and 2 Presidential suites. The designer decorated rooms are welcoming and inviting, representing the epitome of luxury and supreme comfort. All rooms have spectacular views of both Table Mountain and the harbour or the Atlantic Ocean and Robben Island. The rooms all feature luxurious walk-in cupboards and marble finishes, armoires and writing desks and each is equipped with a butler station, colour satellite television, radio, en-suite bathrooms with separate showers, marble vanity units with hairdryer and Mediterranean-style bathrobes and slippers. Telephones are provided in bathrooms, at bedsides and on each writing desk. Each has a voice-mail facility and a wake-up call facility. Biz-Comm centres are provided in all rooms, allowing users to phone, fax, e-mail, copy, print and store messages, on a private number, accessible only to the individual guest, ensuring confidentiality. The centre also has ports to allow connection of lap top computers. The hotel has committed itself to the Tobacco Products Control Amendment Act to protect the rights of non-smokers and children. There are 41 non-smoking rooms in the hotel, situated on the East and Centre wings of the 2nd floor only. The Atlantic Grill Decorated in a Cape winelands theme with large murals and thick-pile carpets, this dignified restaurant overlooks Table Mountain and the inner harbour. Serving à la carte dinners featuring an international menu, The Atlantic Grill has an astonishing 6000-bottle open-face cellar stocking the finest wines and Champagnes. There is also a cigar humidor with an extensive selection, stored under optimum conditions.
The bar is a favoured gathering place for business people during the day and after work for cocktails and conversation, and the adjoining Conservatory is an informal restaurant serving delicious à la carte meals, coffees and salads all day. There is jazz in the evenings. The Lounge/Patio Slightly sunken, below the foyer, the refined atmosphere of this gracious room provides the perfect setting for the most civilised ritual of afternoon Grand Tea. (NOTE FROM WEBMASTER: this tea is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!) Sink deep into the comfort of the sofas and savour the dainty delights on the tiered silver etages, to the accompaniment of live chamber music. Light lunches, cocktails and liqueurs are also served here. It is entirely possible to spend several days at The Waterfront and still not see all there is to see. The Two Oceans Aquarium displays South Atlantic fish and other sea life in a variety of tanks including a huge, open-ocean tank.
