Spectacular views over a pristine floodplain and the Zuurberg Mountain as backdrop are the picture perfect image that welcomes every Nguni River Lodge guest.

The name Nguni refers to a collective group of people who migrated form Central Africa south in search of gracing for their cattle and eventually settled along the eastern seaboard and adjacent hinterland of Southern Africa. This group divided into three broad divisions based on linguistic and cultural differences and comprise of the Zulu, Swazi and Xhosa, which account for about 60 percent of the Bantu speaking people of South Africa. Today it is the ancestral cattle breed that carries the Nguni name. The Nguni cattle breed is endemic to Southern Africa and is known for their fertility and resistance to diseases and characterized by multicolored skins, which can present many different patterns. To this day cattle is the symbol of wealth, status and respect among the Nguni descendants and forms an integral part in “labola” (pride’s price) transaction during cultural matrimonial ceremonies.

Situated in the malaria free Addo Elephant National Park, only an hour’s drive from the coastal city of Port Elizabeth, Nguni River Lodge offers a wide variety of game viewing, outdoor adventure and luxurious accommodation.

Eclectic selections of shapes, textures and colours offers the guest at Nguni River Lodge luxurious accommodation in seven double guest suites and one King suite.

It is the Xhosa people that traditionally inhabit the hills and coastline of the Eastern Cape and for this reason the exquisite architecture of Nguni River Lodge are both perceptive of the Xhosa cultural and environmental conservation. The suites are all named after the colour patterns of the Nguni cattle breed and the elegant interior décor follow modern trends by using the Nguni skins as the base colours for creating individually styled private guest suites. Each suite boasts private plunge pools and balconies overlooking the river and floodplain below. The romantic bathrooms with its huge stone bath and outdoor shower share the same views and sightings of animals can be seen from the privacy and comfort of your own room.

Rates do not include telephone, laundry, curio purchases or gratuities.

50% single supplement is applicable to single occupants.

A minimum of 2 nights stay must be booked during high season between 15 Dec – 7 Jan.

All tourism levies are included in the rates.

CHILDREN

Regrettably no children under the age of 8 years.
Children will require a separate room at 100% of the normal rate.

GROUP BOOKINGS

This policy applies to bookings of 10 or more people.
50% non-refundable deposit required on confirmation of booking.
Full pre-payment required 30 days prior to arrival.

PAYMENT/CANCELLATION POLICY

50% deposit required on confirmation of booking.
Full pre-payment required 15 days prior to arrival.
10% of fee if cancelled 60-45 days prior to arrival.
50% of fee if cancelled 44-15 days prior to arrival.
80% of fee if cancelled 14-1 day prior to arrival.
100% of fee if there is a no show
Amex, Master, Visa and Diners credit cards are accepted.

ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE

Rooms may be occupied from 14h00 on arrival date.
Rooms must be vacated by 11h00 on day of departure.
Subject to availability day room rates are available upon request.

TRANSPORT

Car hire, chauffeur drive or transfers can be arranged on request.

EXCLUSIVE USE OF LAND ROVER

Depending on availability exclusive use of Land Rover can be arranged.

CATERING REQUIREMENTS

Please inform us prior to arrival of any dietary requirements.

WHAT TO TAKE
