and a hint of Turkish music, set the scene for a perfect holiday retreat.

The Cascades Hotel, the
Grotto Restaurant and the pool area underwent an extensive R60-million
refurbishment project, transforming the 1980’s themed pool area into a
tropical paradise.
The Mediterranean is the
deep, blue heart that gives life to the countries that surround it. With
this in mind, Sun City has transformed the Cascades Pool and Grotto Restaurant
into an area reminiscent of the azure blue of the tranquil Mediterranean.
The original garden area
has been transformed into a lake with cascading waterfalls. The pool deck
has been extended by about 7 metres and the lawn areas have been converted
into a sandy beach complete with a secluded bathing area and sand bar evocative
of Tom Cruise’s “Cocktail” movie. Guests can enjoy the ambience complete
with bikini’s and flamboyant barmen. There is a heated pool, a Jacuzzi
pool and children’s pool.

| The Grotto restaurant
has been revolutionised. The Mediterranean restaurant now named Santorini,
is surrounded by glass windows providing an all season enclave, harbouring
guests during winter. Alfresco dining takes place along the island promenade
and delightful gazebo’s offer shaded areas where guests can relax informally
and enjoy a delectable meal. |

Peninsula Cascades Hotel
Superb
International cuisine is on the menu at the Peninsula, the luxuriously
elegant lakeside restaurant. A resident pianist entertains during dinner.
Dinner for groups (1- 70 people), can be accommodated in the Peninsula
Restaurant. Should the group be larger than 10 people, a pre-selected set
menu is to be chosen. This restaurant offers an exquisite menu selection,
whose main focus is on South African Cuisine, with an exciting blend of
flavours to stimulate the senses.

and dinner. Dress: Casual. Santorini the Restaurant is synonymous

restaurant is divided into 3 sections: Terrace & Island areas can seat
up to 86 people and the main restaurant 104. |

243 elegant air-conditioned rooms and suites enjoy spectacular views over
the gardens to the golf course and bushveld hills beyond.
In
the luxury twin and luxury family rooms, the entire bathroom was reconstructed
and enlarged. Amenities now include a separate large shower cubicle which
provides an intimate and private experience and a separate bath that is
the ideal place to unwind. The bathrooms have double vanity units
and are somewhat larger than standard hotel bathrooms.
The
luxury rooms at the Cascades Hotel were also given the ultra-superior treatment.
Each room has its own dressing room with built in dressing table, cupboards
and shoe racks. The furnishings have also been upgraded and are a tapestry
of the verdant gardens and tranquil beach pool area.

marked according to distance and direction.

THE VALLEY OF WAVES
The Valley of Waves is the
central feature of the Lost City at Sun City. Part of the magical legend
of the Lost City.
It is one of the most advanced
water parks in the world, dominated by the Roaring Lagoon, a 6 500-square
metre (7560-square yards) wave pool with a palm-fringed beach. Hydraulic
mechanisms can generate a 1,8 metre (6 feet 8 inches) wave every 90 seconds.
When waves are not generated, a bobbing cycle is generated in a diamond
pattern.
All Resort residents enter
the park free of charge by presenting their resident cards. For all day
visitors there is an entrance fee to the park.

THE GOLF COURSES
The Sun City Resort proudly
boasts 2 world class 18 hole championship golf courses.
The Gary Player Golf Course.
The Gary Player Golf Course
needs no introduction, this world renown course was designed by Gary Player,
and is the home of the Nedbank Golf Challenge, an annual golf tournament
with total prize money of US $4 385 000. This is an 18 hole, par 72 walking
course, with a 5km running trail along the course.
The Gary Player Country Club
overlooks this magnificent golf course and incorporates a Pro Shop,
a Health spa and gymnasium, two squash courts and a spinning studio. At
the Health Spa you can indulge in hair and beauty treatments, hydro bath,
Vichy Shower, spa-pool and steam room. The fully equipped gym also offers
personal trainers.
The Lost City Golf Course
The Lost City Golf Course
was also designed by famed South African golfing figure, Gary Player. This
spectacular par-72 course is a cart course, complete with a state-of-the-art
clubhouse, and is a short stroll from The Palace of the Lost City. It features
a water hazard of 20 live Nile crocodiles on the 13th hole and offers facilities
such as a driving range, and a Golf Pro Shop. |
