A warm welcome awaits guests
at Cape Idlewild Country Cottage.
The cottage was built in
1919 on the banks of the Klein River on the fifth generation De Wet family
farm, Goudini. Recently it has been given a kiss of new life as a guest
cottage, and great care has been taken with the restoration to maintain
the special ambiance by keeping the thick mud walls, yellowwood doors,
bamboo ceilings, and large family hearth intact.

| The living area is an inviting
sitting room with the original open-hearth fireplace, rocking chairs and
a deep soft sleeper couch inviting you to relax and listen to the birds
or the wind whispering in the treetops. Double doors open onto a wide verandah
overlooking the river and fields beyond.
A fully equipped kitchen
with original laboratory basin, cast in 1923, makes this fully self-catering
experience completely private.

Bring your own food along,
or speak to us about a handy starter pack, before meandering to the quaint
towns located close by to sample and pick up local produce. We can also
arrange a home-cooked traditional South African fair, firewood for the
fireplace and barbecue or picnic baskets with carefully selected and top
quality produce from the area. The cottage is equipped with a fridge, freezer,
microwave and small oven. Guest will will also find a CD player/radio and
a small library for reading information on a variety of local and South
African topics.
Be part of a working sheep
farm or partake in activities such as bird watching, biking and walking,
canoeing, picnicking, fishing for bass, barbecuing, whale watching, or
socializing at Hermanus.

| Swim at many of the stunning
beaches or take lunchtime drives to the quaint towns of Stanford, Napier
and Greyton.
While two vibrant De Wet
generations tend the sheep and plant the wheat, we proudly invite you as
our guests on a farm tour to over 630 hectares or walk and bike freely
on the routes laid out to appreciate the birdlife and remaining Renosterveld
fynbos.
For most of the year there
is enough water in the river for canoeing and, when in flood, even white
water kayaking is possible.
