farm, hidden halfway between Caledon and Botriver.

to the call of the sugarbird and unwind on an expansive verandah, overlooking
a spring-water dam and rolling wheat fields. Take the edge off hot summer
days in pools of cool spring water and warm up winter nights beside a blazing
log fire. Count the stars with the children and teach them to fly-fish,

and Botriver region or float in the famous natural hot springs in Caledon,
a mere 20 minutes away. |

Accommodation:
The
Lodge
Our
original self-catering stone Lodge accommodates up to six people, with
a loft above the fireplace offering an inviting sleeping area for two extra
children. Rustic yet with comfortable beds and crisp cotton linen, this
cosy Lodge overlooks a spring-fed dam and is half a kilometre away from
the new Villa, ensuring complete privacy. Features include a boma-style
enclosed barbecue/braai area, 3 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (1 en suite)
and open-plan living area with stone fireplace. Being eco-friendly, there
is no electricity, however solar –powered lighting and plenty of candles
are offered. |
The
Villa
Stylish
and sophisticated, our new self-catering Villa is beautifully decorated
with luxury touches, from fireplaces in two of the bedrooms to pure cotton
bed linen. Also overlooking a spring-fed dam, the villa accommodates up
to six guests in three expansive double bedrooms, each with an en suite
bathroom. Guests who need to connect with friends or work can make use
of wireless internet from the comfort of a sunlounger on the villa’s expansive
stoep. Being eco-friendly, there is no electricity, but sufficient solar-generated
power for charging cell phones, cameras, and laptops. |

DIRECTIONS
The
lodge is situated on Kempsrivier Farm. The closest town is Caledon.
From
Cape Town
Take
the N2. Go over the Houwhoek Pass; drive past Botriver and at the Dassiesfontein
Farm Stall (before Caledon) turn right, taking the Waboomskloof turn-off.
Travel on this gravel road for approximately 8km until you get to a T-junction
where you turn right and then, approximately 50m on, take the first left.
After
about 3km you will see the Kempsrivier Farm gates. Continue through the
gates and directly on to the main house (reception). From reception, continue
on the same road through the oaks and up the hill where, before the shed,
you will see a sign to the right directing you to the Lodge. Follow this
road for about 2km up to the Lodge.
From
Caledon
Turn
right at the silos (Cemetry Road) and drive past Superquick and the traffic
department. The road turns to gravel, take the left fork over the railway
line. Travel on this road for approximately 10km (past the farm Franskraal)
and turn left at the sign to the Lodge. After about 3km you will see the
Kempsrivier Farm gates.
